Podcasts became very popular because of their offer of convenience, allowing people to listen on the go. They cover a wide range of topics, making it easy to find something that interests everyone. Podcasts are on-demand, so listeners can choose when and what to listen to. The conversational, personal nature of many shows creates strong connections with audiences. Plus, the low cost of starting a podcast has led to diverse content, and platforms like Spotify make discovering new shows easier.
Hi Nicole! We wanted to get to know a bit more about this new project you have!
How did it start?
I started to think about it early last year. But at the time I had a lot going on and wasn’t sure how I was gonna make it happen. Then I tore my ACL, got surgery and was like okay I have all this time I should try to take advantage of it and make this damn podcast I’ve been dreaming about.
Why to make this project?
Because I love listening to podcasts so much. They help fill my time in the mundane moments of my day, like driving or washing the dishes. I just feel like podcasts are so cool because you really get to know people you would have never had the opportunity to talk to. I wanted to give that to the skate community, and vice versa, I wanted to open up the door for someone who’s not a skater to learn about how fucking chill we are haha.

Elissa Steamer is a well-known American professional skateboarder. She gained prominence in the skateboarding world in the late 1990s and early 2000s, particularly for being one of the first women to make a significant impact in a sport that was historically dominated by men. Elissa is widely regarded as one of the best female skateboarders of all time and has helped pave the way for future generations of women in skateboarding.
She was featured in various skateboarding videos and competitions, becoming a trailblazer in the industry. Steamer was also one of the first women to be featured in major skateboarding magazines and to compete at the X Games. Her style, skills, and perseverance have made her a legend in the skateboarding community.
Elissa Steamer is also known for her involvement in the skate brand Toy Machine and has continued to be an influential figure within the culture of skateboarding.
Why Elissa Steamer for first guest?
It just made so much sense to have her as the first guest! She’s a legend and I really respect and look up to her so I knew I’d have some good questions to ask her.
Also everyone else respects Elissa and if she is down with the idea that gave me confidence that other people would be down too. The stars kinda aligned when she was in town (LA) in October rehabbing her shoulder at the same time as I was rehabbing my knee and I was like okay this is my moment to commit and just go for this. I felt like if I just took that leap there was no going back and I was podcaster now haha.
What do u wanna achieve with it?
I think ultimately I hope it helps people feel a part of a community that could be hard to understand. Mostly though I just want to make people laugh and have fun! I know I find myself laughing listening to podcasts, and there’s honestly nothing better than a good laugh.
Thank you so much for your time! And good luck for this project :))
